Allow your Passion to become your Purpose and it will one day become your Profession

The discovery of your essential passion is the merger of your inherent talent and aptitude with the execution of them with enjoyment and pleasure. Some refer to this occurrence as being in your element. As Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D. states – “The Element is the point at which natural talent meets personal passion.” His book, “The Element – How finding your passion changes everything”, delves into the depths of this powerful merger.
When you discover your passion everyday jobs seem to be easier to accomplish, time passes with ease, and you feel more alive, relevant, and energized. You have a new sense of self, you are more comfortable in your own skin, and things are as they should be. This euphoric feeling drives you to repeat your actions.
How do you discover your passions? Is there a way to find your passion? There are lots of things I enjoy doing but I do not see how they can be turned into a purpose. How can my passion be utilized as a purpose or profession?
Start a journal that you can use to document your dreams, thoughts, and activities. Capture the things that you enjoy doing and the things you dislike. After months of journaling, take a moment to reflect and review the entries. You will begin to see a pattern or theme that shows a passion.
When it happens, you will have the notorious “Aha moment” and you will say, “There it is – my passion – where have you been”. That sudden realization will energize you and fill you with courage and enthusiasm. Now that you have found your passion, you must nurture it into a purpose. Take that passion and apply it to tasks you can perform in your life. Soon it will become clear the purpose your passion has in fulfilling your dreams.
You must realize that you cannot wait for your purpose to come knocking at your door. Rather, you must open many doors and experience many new possibilities before something clicks. You will know it when you find it. It feels like it belongs in your life, as if you are meant to do this. It is a gift and you feel lucky to be doing it every day.
